- The registrar for this domain is godday.com and still is
- I signed up for a DreamHost account, which has options allowing me to host a domain by Google
- By this time, I have already hosted this domain and some sub domains with DreamHost
A leap of faith, the title of this site by the way, - I always need to feel not in total control but probably most of it :-) now have fully hosted this domain with Google, through DreamHost
- I needed to maintain other sub domains for all the legacy stuffs
- DreamHost created 4 entries for A record, which point to Google servers
Modify DNS records, so here it is- Go into godaddy.com or your domain registrar and create 4 A records for your domain. In my case, I have used the A records entries in DreamHost
- Create all CNAMEs such as mail, calendar, sites etc. If you use Google apps for these, which I do
- Create a site name www
- Create CNAME record www pointing to ghs.google.com
Naked domain points to A records CNAME www points to Naked domainThat's it, your naked domain will automatically redirect to www alias which is your main Google site :-) And, here come the icing- You can still use DreamHost to host sub domains with full functionality
- For that matter, you have full control of DNS hosting through your registrar, and Google or any hosting provider can host the full domain or sub domains however configured by you.
